IMPORTANT UPDATE:
THE WIRELESS ORDINANCE DISCUSSION IS IS NOW SCHEDULED TO BE ON THE SEPTEMBER PLANNIING COMMISSION AGENDA. WE WILL KEEP YOU UPDATED.

Dear Neighbors,

As was reported in the Pine Cone, the United States District Court of Appeals sided with the City of Carmel by the Sea, The La Playa Hotel and the Stop Cell Towers in Carmel Neighborhoods group by dismissing Verizon’s appeal of the denial of the Carmelo cell tower in a residential zone.

Many neighbors gave speeches at Planning Commission and City Council Meetings, sent in post cards and wrote letters to the city in order to stop this cell tower which could have lead to the proliferation of cell towers in our entire village.

The City has wisely chosen to update its wireless ordinance. Stop Cell Towers in Carmel Neighborhoods, with the support of the community, continues to educate residents and elected City officials on what a strong wireless ordinance looks like so that cell towers will not be placed in our residential zones.

You should have received a letter and postcard in the mail from us recently. The purpose is to show residential support for a strong wireless ordinance. Our group sent the City a best-practices ordinance model drafted by Andrew Campanelli, one of the nation’s top telecom specialists. Our goal as residents is to have good cellular service in the least intrusive means possible to our neighborhoods.

Please sign and mail your postcards to prevent the nightmare of a cell tower returning in front of your home and to prevent the proliferation of cell towers throughout our neighborhoods. If you didn’t get one click here.

Thank you for your support,

Stop Cell Towers in Carmel Neighborhoods
