On December 6th, STOP Cell Towers in Carmel Neighborhoods member, Christy Hollensbeck, made a public comment regarding the current status of Carmel-by-the-Sea’s wireless ordinance process.
Good Evening Mayor Potter and City Council members,
I am Christy Hollenbeck from Stop Cell Towers in Carmel Neighborhoods.
We are for cellular service in the least intrusive means possible.
Putting cell towers in residential neighborhoods is the cheapest way for cell providers to sell streaming services (already provided by companies like Comcast) to the public. It’s not about better cell service!
The residents of Carmel with Stop Cell Towers in Carmel Neighborhoods group, have provided the city with a best practices ordinance from arguably the top cell tower attorney in the country. We are very pleased that the City’s meeting with Mr. Campanelli went well and we eagerly await news on how the city plans to accomplish their stated goal of creating the strongest possible wireless ordinance. Will you hire Mr. Campanelli to work for Carmel? Mr Campanelli wrote an ordinance that gives the city the maximum ability to control where cell towers go. Who would be opposed to that? He does not have a conflict of interest with telecom and you can be assured he will work within the parameters of the law.
Environmental Health Trust just put out an article specifically listing communities throughout the United States that are protecting their interests by regulating cell towers, 5G and wireless antennas from over aggressive telecom industry wireless infrastructure deployment plans (that often fail to consider important community interests).
One of these communities was Dalton Gardens, Idaho which was complimented for having exemplary radio frequency testing and strong pre-notification requirements. Our lawyer, Mr Campanelli wrote their ordinance.
We have one of the most beautiful towns in the world. Let all work together to protect this community from unnecessary cell tower proliferation.
Thank you,
Christy Hollensbeck
