We are surrounded by Radio Frequency (RF) radiation. It is what drives our cell phones and our wireless networks in our house. Most of us have assumed that there isn’t any health consequences of this. It isn’t the goal of this website to be an expert or even advocate that this is the case. We are simply here to educate you by presenting you with articles and videos produced by people and cities that have done extensive research so you can make your own decisions. One thing’s for sure. We shouldn’t just assume that we are safe and not being impacted by this because there is plenty of evidence to show this isn’t true.
Here is some background information on some important issue related to the City’s second draft wireless ordinance as of August 23.

Andrew Campanelli’s draft Wireless Ordinance for Carmel-by-the-Sea. Carmel residents raised enough money to pay the country’s leading wireless attorney to draft a “beat practices” wireless ordinance. You can see it here and, unlike most ordinances, actually understand it all.

This website lists the top 10 things that you need to know about 5G and small cell installations.
Click here to see a really great summary of when environmental review is triggered by cell facilities. In Carmel’s case, putting it adjacent to the Hotel and historic houses should require staff to undergo CEQA and NEPA review to determine if it will affect properties included in or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places. Maybe this should have been done with Sunset Center which is on the National Register of Historic Places.
Cell towers have proven to be a significant fire danger to communities like Carmel. This article gives some examples.

Monterey has been working on their wireless ordinance since 2018 and have paid over $260,000 in legal fees during that time. Like Carmel, a neighborhood group provided information that could have been acted on for virtually no cost but the City just kept using one of the attorneys that Carmel is using. Check out this document to see the history. The neighborhood group is still very unhappy with the direction this is taking.

Watch this video that shows how Verizon is trying to put 5G towers in an Indiana community. They are in for a long fight. Turns out that only areas of town zoned for only underground utilities are protected.

One 5G base station is estimated to consume about as much power as 73 households. Telecom providers expect their energy costs to increase by 150-170 percent by 2026 with the advent of 5G technology. Telecommunications will consume up 20% of the world’s electricity by 2025.

Back in 2019, the City of Encinitas was fighting the same battle our STOP group is fighting in CBTS today. They saw the threat of these towers and did something about it. This is a quick read and will show you how paying attention can pay off!

In California, fires are a real threat. In recent years, we have had massive fires that have burned down forests, grass covered hills and trees as well as entire neighborhoods leaving destruction, devastation and death. Many of these fires can be traced to electric poles, which is where site developers like to put their newest 4G & 5G antennas.

The FCC and ICNIRP limits were not designed to protect wildlife. Government agencies are not reviewing the research as we might expect. Environmental Health Trust is working everyday sharing the science and educating lawmakers to protect our human health and the environment.

The following report focuses on potential impacts on wildlife, trees, plants and insects, such as bees, because there are no regulations protecting them from EMFs emanating from wireless antennas. Wildlife protections are becoming more vital as this radiation — known more specifically as radiofrequency EMFs — escalates through 5G technologies, the researchers warn.

There is a group of very smart and industrious Monterey residents who formed a group similar to our SCTICN group years ago. They are working on Monterey’s wireless ordinance and also trying to underground power lines. We have been attending their meetings and think you should take a look at information on their website.
